Stephanie Bart

Stephanie Bart was born in Esslingen in 1965 and completed her studies in Ethnology and Political Science at the University of Hamburg before moving to Berlin in 2001. She has won multiple awards for her literary writing. She established herself as an important voice in contemporary literature with her novel Deutscher Meister (German Champion). In her latest work, Erzählung zur Sache (Story about the Subject), Stephanie Bart addresses the RAF trials in Germany in a striking fashion. She makes virtuosic use of original texts from the RAF archives, which she assembles and commentates in a way that communicates the complexity and historical importance of this event. Bart reveals herself to be an inventive narrator who presents historical material in a creative and relevant manner that is sure to provoke and enrich contemporary discussions.
